B3 Barossa Shiraz 2012

B3 Shiraz 2011

VINTAGE REPORT

A wet winter and a cool spring allowed for ample soil moisture and left good reserves of groundwater for the dry summer months. A mild summer with cool nights, moderate days and only one short heatwave facilitated good fruit set which saw disease-free ripening.   The vintage started early February with white varieties ripening in short succession. The cooler conditions led to an excellent growing season with white wines showing delicate flavours and aromas, while the reds were full of density, colour and rich flavour. Despite lower than average yields, the quality of the wines from the 2012 Barossa vintage is set to be exceptional.

TASTING NOTE

Intense red colour with vibrant purple hues.  The wine exhibits aromas of dark stone fruits, vanilla pod, and mixed berries together with a hint of cedar, Christmas pudding and old leather bound books.   The palate is rich and full bodied, with the stone fruit evident in the front palate, the cedar and leather characteristics in the mid palate with a dark chocolate finish.  This wine has a firm fruit backbone and supporting, long tannins.   This is a full bodied wine with good length and is an excellent example of Barossa Shiraz from the 2012 vintage.
